What makes snails such fun to study?
- Snails are usually more active during dawn and dusk unlike other creatures. Their activity level always fluctuates throughout the night. This is one of the most interesting things about them.
- Mollusks have a kidney that is located very close to their hearts. This is what they use to remove nitrogenous waste from their blood. It is then passed through their excretory duct which runs alongside a rectum up to a pore that is located at the mantle edge.
- Pulmonates especially fresh water has an extraordinary ability to regulate their flexibility by adjusting the level of air in their lungs. This they can achieve by either adjusting the air to rise, float of sink in the water which ever catches their fancy.
